Advent is a season of waiting and expectation. We’re waiting for the incarnation - the birth - of Jesus, while also waiting for Christ’s return at the end of time. That’s a lot to hold together! But we know that this story means a lot for us and for this world. It’s a story of new beginnings. A story of hope and freedom. A story of God’s action in this world.
Are you ready?
As we think about the biblical stories that shape our waiting and expectation, we recall many biblical figures who said “yes” to God, to be a part of God’s story. Throughout the weeks of Advent here, we will be hearing some of those stories, especially the ones that bring us to the birth of Jesus. There were big yeses and little yeses. There were also lots of reasons NOT to say yes. I hope you will join us in worship as we hear these yes stories!
To support our exploration of this theme, there is a devotional book available for your use. A few copies of a black and white printed version are at church, but you can also download a full color version here. We hope it will bring a greater depth to your Advent journey!
